Product Description

This is a smooth, sweet, and very easy to drink tea. Made from 2015 Da Xue Shan (“Big Snow Mountain”) huang pian (yellow leaves), this tea provides high quality ancient tree material, but without the ancient tree price. Having spent a longer amount of time on the tree, these larger leaves also are richer in minerals, ensuring this tea is not lacking in flavour.

This tea brews out a nice golden yellow, with less bitterness and astringency than most Lincang region raw puers of similar age. It’s an excellent tea for those who are just starting out with raw puer and perhaps looking for a gentler reception, but also provides adequate flavour and depth for those who an affordable tea to drink regularly. This tea is also relatively easy to brew, as it’s quite forgiving when over-steeped.

2 reviews for 24K 2015 Da Xue Shan Ancient Tree Huang Pian Raw Puer

  1. 4 out of 5

I am not an experienced Puer drinker, so take my review with a grain of salt. I’ve now tried a few Puer teas (raw and ripe), from various vendors, and I still haven’t found any that speak to me. This one, though, I keep returning to. It has one of the most unusual flavors that I’ve come across in a tea. It has a SUPER STRONG roasted greens scent. You take the first sip, and at the very moment you think you’re going to get hit with a bushel of kale, it reveals a medley of honey-sweet, umami, buttery rich favors with a hint of basil. The flavor is pretty consistent across steeps (195F for 5,10,15… sec). It also has a pleasant cooling sensation. Unusual and delicious!

  2. 5 out of 5

Like the previous poster I’m not an experienced Puer drinker and have yet to find a Puer that resonates. This one, however, is fabulous. Apricots and old growth redwoods with no peaty, boggy flavor. It’s mellow but with presence. I keep returning to it. Very, very good.
