Ambrosia 2022 Spring Baxian Dancong Oolong

$19.50$295.00

Description

One of our favourite Dancong varietals, this Baxian produces a complex and elegant fragrance that unravels in layers with each brew. There is a gentle floral quality up front, followed by a fresh lychee aftertaste and a honey sweetness that becomes more obvious by the 4th infusion. This tea also produces a full feeling in the mouth, while the fragrance echoes in the throat.

As with any quality Dancong, this tea offers a thick mouthfeel across many infusions. We recommend taking your time between infusions in order to appreciate what this tea has to offer, just be sure to also maintain a high water temperature for your steeps.

Our top Dancong offering for 2022, this tea both deserves and demands your attention. For this reason, we recommend this level of tea for more experienced drinkers and those who are confident in their brewing abilities.

The material used for this tea comes from high altitude, old bushes in Yahou (垭后) and has undergone traditional style charcoal roasting. In our opinion, this tea provides a great representation of the differences between the common and the uncommon.

Please note that the 250g size does not include a tin.

We recommend brewing this tea using Chaozhou style gongfu brewing. Here’s how it’s done:

For something different, you can also try cold brewing:

My experience with this varietal is much emphsized on the aftertaste. Of course the aroma, taste and texture is on the top rank amongst floral style dancongs (to be specific, in Zhi Lan Xiang group), but the truly iconic feature is the aftertaste that echoes in my throat and my body sense. It’s qi is also special like a glowing light.

Not worth the price. I got this tea from my recent BLT order, and while it is decent, it isn’t worth it. Beautiful leaves with a nice and fragrant aroma, decent cha-qi and decent aftertaste. Everything is nice but just not special or not stand out compared to other dancongs. This tea has poor steep longevity and it just didn’t offer much in terms of complexity and character. Definitely not a bad tea, but for the price? Not worth.

Ambrosia is great for feeling and finish. Taste is excellent, though I prefer a couple of the other 2022 Bitterleaf oolong selection on taste alone. Ambrosia shines mostly for the complex and lengthy aftertaste, combined with the satisfaction that lasts way beyond the final sip. I get the best brew using a lot of leaf and a lengthy infusion time, which isn’t necessarily ideal for the price, but there is an unusual silver lining on that front…Unlike most oolong sessions I have, drinking Ambrosia is different, and I feel like another tea session doesn’t need to come any time soon. The feeling keeps lifting and it’s like the tea is staying with me to see the rest of the day through. That’s pretty special.

    Pleasant texture tea session
//Smell : Tropical fruits X 1000, Frozen concentrated fruit beverage, vivid zest, heated cream, pastries
//Texture: Tingling on the tip of the tongue, expending liquor effect, heat in the cheeks and up to the throat
//Taste : Delicate, floral and fresh like the spring, refined, sugary, herbaceous
//Body sensation: Sleepy face, calm energy, present moment, (a bit) faster heartbeat
