Core 2017 Mengku Raw Puer

$5.50$34.00

Description

Made from well processed old tree material, this is an affordable, high quality raw puer from a village in the Xibanshan region of Mengku, in Lincang county. It features a unique fragrance at the forefront, buoyed by a gentle vegetal flavour and noticeable energy.

This tea exhibits strong fundamentals in terms of what a good, solid Lincang raw puer should be, thus we strongly recommend it for those who are new to puer and exploring the differences between regions in Yunnan. With that said, this tea can still be thoroughly enjoyed by drinkers of any level.

Leaves (and stems) slightly twisted. Cute hairy/silvery buds and pretty large fudgy leaves. I loved the smell of old leather and books. I noticed some flowery notes too; interesting! The liquor has the color of champagne and is cloudy. The smell is stronger than the taste (who is a bit light).

I remember this being a vegetal and solid daily drinker from Mengku. I’m hoping to revisit it with a sample in my next order!

This tea reminds me of brussels sprouts and kale. The body is very fresh and vegetal, with a noticeable but not overwhelming bitterness. It’s definitely on the higher end of astringency, and leaves my mouth feeling very dry. I think my favorite thing about this tea is that there’s a mild, pleasant sweetness on the finish that seems to linger in my throat for a while after drinking. Overall, an interesting and fairly nice tea, but not something I’m personally going crazy over.
