In Bloom 2018 Spring Jing Mai Raw Puer

Back for a second year in a row, to us, this tea represents an ideal Jingmai tea. It has an unmistakable orchid fragrance that that sticks with you, accompanied by a pleasant huigan. Compared to the previous year, our 2018 In Bloom exhibits a thicker body and denser flavour. We strongly recommend this for drinkers that are looking for floral qualities and high fragrance in their sheng.

This tea is considering “huncai”, or mixed picking. The material used is collected from a garden that contains small and large trees that are picked together. This has gradually become a preferred style of picking for us, as it combines many of the desirable properties of old/big trees and young/small trees – yes, small trees have their positive characteristics too – while remaining budget friendly.

This is a good Jingmai. Floral, tasty, good mouthfeel, brews for a long time.
Price is also right, compared to other teas from that mountain.
Even if you’re not a Jingmai fan you should give this one a try..

I love all the branding and design from this years productions. Young Jingmai is such a treat to me when I’m in the right mood and this is one of my favorites I’ve ever tried. I hope Bitterleaf has some stashed away to resale down the road for those of us who haven’t committed to a cake of it yet ;^)

Good price, good tea. Light and sweet, very floral with a long aftertaste. Not super strong, which is neither good nor bad depending on your taste. For me, I like a stronger tea. Brewing too hard gives you unpleasant bitterness instead of something nice, but the aftertaste is still good. This tea does really well in unglazed clay, after a few sessions the floral notes and the aftertaste improve from good to great.

Color of the liquor: Shy yellow – ice cider

    – The leaves are loosely compressed which make the thing easy to grab from.
    – Kaki, warm brown, blue leaves – silver buds – a few stems
    – The dry leaves smell like warm fruit muffins
    – The wet leaves remind me the smell of flowers after the rain in summer (with a pinch of minerality)
    – Thin and clear texture
    – Gentle and floral taste make it perfect for a summer tea session.

    Good every days tea.
