Description
For those who enjoyed our 2020 Charmed, this tea is a natural follow up. It comes from a similarly untouched environment not too far away from Mangga (near Shuangjiang, Lincang). This biodiverse and unfettered environment leads this tea to produce a strong taste and body feeling.
The fragrance is a bit of a moving target with this one, covering the range of floral, vegetal, mineral and sweet, although not necessarily at the same time. While this tea is not what we would consider a “wild’ varietal, it certainly exhibits what we like to call a “forest flavour” imparted by its environment and (lack of) upkeep.
The tree ages in this tea range from younger qiaomu to old tree (mixed picking), while the unknown nature of the region keeps the price down, rewarding those who choose the path less travelled with an excellent value tea.

That tea has something special for me. When I was drinking the first two infusions I was like: “Hmm … its nice but I am not quite sure what it tastes like and if it is outstanding.” But the more I sipped on it the more I realized the quality this tea has for me. Somehow this tea offers such a refreshing, satisfying and cleansing feel, like going outside after a heavy summer rain. This is nothing I can really pinpoint in like “what the reason is for it”, but it occurred to me in separate sessions. So this tea now became the one I choose when I feel dizzy or a bit exhausted, since it really revitalizes me. Taste and fragrance wise it is all nice, quite umami-ish and a bit herbal as well as fruity. But here its really the feel that makes this one an absolute 5* for me. One of if not the favorite of this years puer selection so far.

Choosing this tea sure means a satisfying (long) tea session. Glad I picked a cake of this one. You’ll be pleased by the cooked vegetables/sweet/vegetal notes, the wet hay aroma and the comforting supple leather feel. This tea really calm me out; maybe it will have a similar effect on you too?

When I sampled the dragonballs I liked this a lot, enough to buy a cake later without really remembering why I liked the samples. And even though I’ve had several sessions from the cake I still can’t really pin this tea down. It feels good to drink though, that’s all I know! Fragrance and taste is very neutral, some lemongrass notes. Body feel is nice, but ‘22 Charmed strikes me as better in that department (these teas feel like siblings). I’ve decided to just stash this away in storage because there is no real reason to be in a hurry to drink it fresh.
