Slow Burn 2021 Baiying Shan Raw Puer

A tea with true staying power, this Baiying shan raw puer remains consistent from one brew to the next, with great fragrance and sugary sweetness that lasts in the mouth and throat. Put it down for a few minutes and you’ll still be tasting this one.

This tea uses Baiying shan big tree material (aka “not-that-gushu-but-big-enough-to-have-put-down-some-serious-roots” trees) growing at over 2000 meters, giving it an exceptionally full feeling.

There is some gentle astringency that plays well with the fruit flavours and tartness.

We highly recommend this tea for anyone looking for a standout Lincang tea. While it may not be typical for the region, it represents a good bridge to the other side of the Lancang river.

Many of our samples for spring 2021 are in dragon ball form. While these balls will perform the same as the cake, they can be slightly trickier to brew. Here’s how we do it:

Wow! My favorite ball from the Treat Yourself set so far!
I usually prefer more fragrance – here the fragrance is really subtle and weak, but…
That mouthfeel and finish! Satisfying mouthfeel, a lot going on in the mouth. Then it hits super quickly – the intense sweetness! The sweetest finish ever.
It has the usual drier mouthfeel of Lincang, which I love because it keeps the session interesting. It doesn’t have the usual Lincang intense floral/fruity fragrance on the nose but you can still feel some of it on the finish (mainly fruity – grapes and lychees).
Great mouthfeel + aftertaste tea! Highly recommend!
    Fragrance: 2/5 (grapes)
Mouthfeel: 5/5 (medium dry, medium thick, sweet, slightly citrusy acidic)
Aftertaste: 6/5 (sweet and fragrant on the finish)

This is the first Bitterleaf tea I have tried in the 2021 spring sheng set and it’s an instant favorite. Bright and refreshing, I couldn’t seem to put it down and longed for the next steep. I got flavors of honeydew, white raspberry, dandelion, pumpkin, lemongrass and allspice. While not the most intense tea, it’s right up there with the most enjoyable for me. It has a delightful lightly drying finish with a sweet, cooling aftertaste.
