Sunny Side Up 2021 Bangwei Raw Puer

If you need a tea to brighten your day, look no further. This juicy Bangwei raw puer delivers a gentle orchid fragrance reminiscent of Jingmai, along with fruit notes that balance it out on the sweet side. The flavour continues to linger well after taking a sip and leaves a pleasant feeling in the mouth and throat.

This tea continues to press forward with each brew. A gentle bitterness remains constant, just to let you know it’s there, but can also be brought out with a heavier hand. Overall this tea has great endurance over many infusions, with the floral notes eventually giving way to more sweetness

Bangwei is located close to Jingmai and therefore shares some similar traits, but with its own unique character. It’s also known for its high altitude (~1900 meters) and having quite a few old/ancient trees.

While this tea admittedly comes from younger arbour material, that just means more fun for everyone. In this price range, we highly recommend this budget-friendly tea for both drinking now and storing for the future.

Picking period: Pre-April 9

Many of our samples for spring 2021 are in dragon ball form. While these balls will perform the same as the cake, they can be slightly trickier to brew. Here’s how we do it:

Probably my favourite puer from bitterleaf of 2021. Lasts for an exceptional number of steepings, very floral, with a persistent bitterness, and a small underlying hint of sandalwood despite being a young tea.

Very floral and bittersweet, with the bitter notes becoming more pronounced with later steepings. Pleasant and has me grinning like a loon after a while (the wrapping should have been a huge hint). Looking forward to seeing how this will age a few years on.

//Dry & Wet Leaves : Gentle floral perfume, hay, cooked vegetables and a bit salty
//Texture: Tingling on the tip of the tongue, great liquor thickness right at the first brew, creamy
//Taste: Sweet and gentle soup, humid hay in the morning, perfumed wet clothes drying on the clothesline, library, astringent, dry sawdust, burn/caramelized notes

This tea will surely keep you awake. It “activate” the brain and increase the heartbeat. Go-Go-Go do something with that energy NOOOOOW haha!
