Description
The area of Nanmo is just a stone’s throw from Hekai and shares many of the same qualities, including a pleasant a balance between floral flavour and gentle bitterness.
However, even at a fraction of the price of most Hekai teas, this tea is not to be taken lightly. It’s hypnotic fragrance can easily lure you in and have its way with you, making it a powerful value.
By comparison to its bigger brother, Resistance, this tea come from smaller and younger trees. While people won’t usually boast about this feature, small trees often produce more fragrance forward teas with friendly prices, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
Picking period: Pre-March 28
$0.14/gram
All of our samples for spring 2020 are in dragon ball form. While these balls will perform the same as the cake, they can be slightly trickier to brew. Here’s how we do it:

I was really surprised by this tea. When used enough leaf (~6 g per 100 ml) it has a thick and quite creamy texture to me. The tea does have an interesting aroma, although it is not of the high-floral sort. I got some herbal and mint aromas with some mild deep flowery fragrance. But what I really loved about this tea is the kind of huigan it provided to me. A quite long but nice bitterness with such a beautiful turn to a gentle sweetness and a very interesting slightly vanillaish aroma – but quite unique to me. Never experienced this in that form and especially not to this price. The body sensation / tea drunkenness effect is quite strong though. However, to be honest I also enjoyed this.

Now that I have bought two cakes I can share my review. Note that I had the dragonball sampler version of this tea, not the cake.
This tea is generally tasty. A nice creamy flavor with a thick texture. Reminds me of elements of a Taiwanese high mountain oolong although of course the PuErh bitterness is still there.
But the stand out is the very strong Cha Qi. Everyone experiences it differently but I found this one energizing. This isn’t something I’d expect in this price range hence the order of two cakes.

//Eyes dry leaf
There’s a wide variety of colors in the leaves: Fudge, silver, tender green, sienna brown ^^. Plus, it’s a really cute tiny dragon ball!
//Nose dry leaf
Smell surprisingly strong if we consider the fact that the tea is ball shaped. SWEET!
//Nose wet leaf
Floral, herbaceous, hay and sweet
//Eyes liquor
Golden beige, lovely
//Mouth texture
Medium texture, Wide mouth coating
//Mouth taste
Reminds me of kiwi except for the peppery side. Honey diluted in hot water. Herbaceous.
//Nose Empty Cup
Honey madeleines with light sweet notes
//Body sensation
Very heating tea! Sweating and high energy level!
//Brewing notes
95C water
Rinse: 30 seconds
Brew 1 : 15 seconds
Brew 2 : 10 seconds
Brew 3 : 15 seconds (then +5 sec)
//Overall impression
Lovely experience! I’ll order a cake of it for sure ^^

“Drink Me” is a tea I fell in love with as soon as I tried it. It kept pulling me back, and I didn’t resist. Over the course of the year (however many months I’ve had this tea now), I’ve continued to fall in love with this tea several more times. It continues to evolve, and is really showing its southern roots. If you like Bulang teas, this has a wonderful base character similar to very clean “modern” Bulang sheng, with added uniqueness (subtle floral aroma, minerality, body, lower bitterness, low astringency). Just do what the name of this tea says. A tong will hopefully keep me happy for a while.

Basically what madcatmk3 said. The taste is nice, although nothing to write home about. However, the chaqi is very, very powerful. I’ve bought a cake for myself based solely on this. I do make sure not to drink it in the morning, though, if I want to have a productive day!
