Hidden Gem 2007 Mahei Huang Pian Raw Puer

$10.00$170.00

Description

This is a tea that came to us by way of a friend in Jinghong, where it’s been stored for the last 10 years. The material used for this tea is not simply just any huang pian from Mahei – it was apparently a production of all the huang pian from Mahei’s 2007 spring harvest, purchased and carried into Yiwu town for pressing by a single buyer that year.

The tea maintains a comfortable, sweet flavour and smooth, thick texture, thanks to its time in controlled humid storage. Despite the humid environment, it remains quite clean and free of any overly “wet” or offensive flavours that can sometimes accompany humid stored teas.

One of the best puers I’ve ever tasted – very round and thick with a pleasant astringency but which has almost no bitterness. It’s quite sweet and has some nutty and woody undertones. It brewed a solid 10 times (very short infusions for the first ~ 6 times) without losing flavor and continued with a still pretty decent mellow sweetness for another 2 or 3 infusions. Note: the color of the liquor was considerably darker than pictured.

This tea gives joy to the body! Even if the cake is heavily pressed, the leaves are in good condition (not much folded). The dry leaves are quite variable in color: khaki, hazelnut, fudge, etc. This tea have a crazy smell of caramel and whiskey. The texture is very thick and creamy. The coating of the mouth is more than generous; like a candied liquor. What a treat! Give it a try if you have the chance.
