Description

Hand made and hand painted with love by a studio in Jingdezhen, our Good Omen series of teaware brings luck and fortune to your tea table. The pieces in this series incorporate classic Chinese symbols of prosperity and good fortune, along with real gold highlights. Sporadic iron spots in the clay balance out the modern approach with an organic feel.

This piece feature two mythical creatures, both of which represent transformation: a Phoenix and a Kunpeng (鲲鹏).

Symbolizing strength and high aspiration, the Kunpeng is a mythical sea creature-turned-giant-bird that originally appeared in the Zhungzi (庄子). As it flies at very high altitude to reach the southern oceans, smaller creatures like birds and insects mock it for flying so high, but only because they themselves are limited in their ability, unable to comprehend the Kunpeng’s great ambitions.

Moral of the story: Be a Kunpeng.
