These teacups each feature a fully handpainted “螭吻” (chiwen), which is pretty much exactly what it looks like: a fish dragon. One of the 9 dragon sons, these mythical creatures are said to have the ability to shoot waves of water from their mouths, making them good protectors from fire and other disasters.

For this reason, hey can often be spotted on roofs of houses, protecting them from above. However, even with this creature on your roof or teacup, we still advise that you regularly check your smoke detector and keep all emergency exists free of obstruction.
