Description
Made by the same studio as most of our Chaozhou clay teapots, these 2 piece tea trays are an elevated take on the classic tea trays you can see around Chaozhou.
We previously tested several versions of these trays from other sources, but they all fell short, either feeling cheap in the hands, or using questionable clays. As true Chaozhou clay becomes increasingly scare, many producers opt for non-local clay and dye or adulterate as needed to approximate the qualities of Chaozhou clay.
In the case of these trays, each one is fully handmade (wheeled) and uses authentic Chaozhou clay. The difference is night and day and once that you can instantly feel.
As handmade pieces, you may or may not find small iron spots. This is normal and unavoidable.
These trays are available in two sizes, small (~7 inch) and large (~10 inch). Please note that in order to drain properly there is a gentle gradient towards the center in order to allow water/tea to flow into the basin below, which is more noticeable on the large version.
