Chaozhou Zhuni Clay Drum Teapot
- Additional information
These teapots are made from Chaozhou dahong pao clay, not to be confused with Yixing dahongpao clay though. Chaozhou clay is considered to be even more porous than Yixing zisha, and will similarly absorb the flavour and character of the tea you use them for, improving with continued use.
This clay also experiences less shrinkage during firing than Yixing zisha, and consequently Jianshui zitao, which endures the highest shrinkage of the aforementioned clays. This relatively lower shrinkage means that Chaozhou pots often having extremely tight-fitting lids.
This particular “drum” shaped teapot features an extra wide lid opening, making it suitable for large chunks of puer. These pots hold approximately 70ml (+/- 5ml) of liquid with ~7.5 second pour time.
These teapots come from a small studio in Chaozhou and include a certificate of completion by the artist, who previously spent much of his formative years honing his craft in Yixing.
As these are unglazed pieces, we recommend dedicating your teapot to one type of tea and avoiding the use of soap or detergents.
The Zhuni clay teapot with kintsugi repaired handle in pictures is included for comparison purposes only. All teapots will be sent out (and hopefully received) with non-broken, non-repaired handles. We currently only can offer these teapots made with Dahongpao clay.
