Element 2023 Tieguanyin Ooolong

Price range: $6.50 through $22.00

Description

This tea is great introduction to oolong for beginner drinkers, as well as a pleasant daily drinker for those with more experience. Made from fall material, known for having a high fragrance and a creamy scent, this tea delivers notes of orchid, as well as a pleasant, uplifting energy.

For gongfu brewing, we recommend brewing this tea with standard parameters for ball oolongs: 1ml to 18g of tea ratio, quick in-and-out pours for the first 3 infusions, then add 5-10 seconds (or to taste) per brew after that. If western brewing, then a first brew of 20 seconds in a 350-400ml vessel should be suitable, adding 10-20 seconds (or to taste) per brew after that.

Each pack contains approximately 7g.

It’s really just a great budget/daily drinking Tieguanyin. It’s very light and friendly. Green, extremely creamy and buttery, sweet corn, sugar snap peas, cooked green vegetables, very light touch of sesame and saline. It’s nice and refreshing. This element series is crazy tasty for the price.

This one was my introduction into oolongs, it was my least favorite of the tasting set. Will try it after drinking more tea (specially oolong) and maybe my opinion would change. Definitely a lot of flavor to offer tho.

The aroma was abundant from the first infusion onward, with grassy and floral notes. The flavor started grassy and slowly revealed a sweetness reminiscent of green grapes. I haven’t had many oolongs, and this showed me I need to try more!

This was my first iron goddess oolong and i had no idea tea could be this fragrant. It has a type of creamy perfumy scent in the best way with a little vegetal. It actually even helped my digestion a bit i think, so cooling. I also like that it was individual packs because i’ve heard oolongs like these are best sealed for freshness as much as possible. I’ll probably be journeying into more oolongs in the future as well because of the experience with this. So good.

I got this in the elements tasting set.
It was my first experience with Tieguanyin and I found it to be absolutely wonderful. Even before the first infusion, the dry leaves had an absolutely wonderful floral aroma to them which only became stronger after being awakened. The taste is equally lovely, right from the first quick infusion it has a light vegetal sweetness to it, permeated by that light floral aroma. Later infusions didn’t lose any of that wonderful sweetness, but gained a really nice comforting richness, maybe even a little bit of tartness?
I 100% agree with what the other reviewers mentioned about the creamy texture and flavor notes reminiscent of sweet corn. Definitely on the “closer to green tea” end of the oolong spectrum.
Although I’m unsure this will necessarily become a daily drinker for me, it’s definitely something I’m going to order more of for when I want something really smooth, comforting, and sweet.

Had this as part of the Element tasting set. Pleasant greenness with notes of roasted rice, almost genmaicha-like, lingering aftertaste with astringency and a bit of bitterness. Great value and convenience.
