Silver & Gold 2025 Spring Yashi Xiang Dancong Oolong

Price range: $14.00 through $205.00

Description

Made from high altitude, old bush material from the origin region of Ping Kang Tou (坪抗头), home of the mother tree, this tea has been one of our favourites for close to 10 years, with a unique floral fragrance and great texture/mouthfeel.

We highly recommend comparing this tea with our standard Easy Breezy Yashi. This tea offers a similar characteristic fragrance, but with added depth of flavour, a thick mouthfeel and a milky quality that comes with in higher end Dancong. Having undergone traditional charcoal roasting, this tea has a smooth texture that rolls in the mouth.

If this is your first time coming across “Duckshit fragrance”, then rest assured that it’s just a name. In reality, this tea boasts a highly fragrant and floral quality. The story goes that this name came about when the owner of the original tea bushes attempted to thwart potential thieves from trying to steal the bushes, claiming that ducks relieved themselves in the area around the bushes and that the tea was no good.

That name has stuck and to this day the varietal is one of the most popular with Dancong drinkers, so this tactic clearly didn’t work.

Please note that the 250g size does not include a tin.

$0.82-0.93/gram

Varietal: Yashixiang/鸭屎香/Duckshit Fragrance

We recommend brewing this tea using Chaozhou style gongfu brewing. Here’s how it’s done:

For something different, you can also try cold brewing:

I did a side-by-side comparison with the Easy Breezy Yashi Xiang.
Aroma: Sweet, floral, honey, baked sweets, creamy.
Texture: Thicker mouthfeel than EB. Maybe medium thick.
Taste: Orchid/Jasmin high floral notes, creamy, baked goods, honey.
This one is more creamy, but the main standout to me was how long it brews with a lot of flavour compared to EB. Definitely glad I got a tin of this for special occasions.
