A blend for those with an insatiable sweet tooth, this tea combines the sugary qualities of shaihong (sun dried) Yunnan black tea with the floating fragrance of Dancong oolong. This pressing offers the best of both worlds, with a more dynamic fragrance than a typical shaihong, but additional sweetness and more resistance to bitterness than your average Dancong.

For this year’s pressing, we swapped out the Yashixiang for Milanxiang, bringing a touch of honey and orchid florals that work much better than we expected. The result is one of the most cohesive blends we’ve done right out of the gate.

Where previous versions felt more separated initially, this pressing sees the two teas already working together as a team. The creamy texture from the Dancong adds a pleasant mouthfeel that arguably makes this the best textured version that we’ve released.

As with any experimental blend, there are always adjustments to make. While the long-term aging potential is still being proven, our experience has been that the flavors tend to meld over time, forming their own identity, which is part of the fun.

A solid daily drinker, this is one we strongly recommend doubling (or tonging) up on, as the first cake might be gone before you know it.

Brewing-wise, we recommend using standard gongfu brewing parameters for this tea, however, it also performs very well when brewed grandpa/thermos style.
