A tea several years in the making, this multi-year blend celebrates our 5th year of operation. To mark the occasion, we put aside a portion of fall Mansa maocha each year from 2017-2019, blending the 3 years in equal parts.
This material is the fall version of what was used for our 2016-2018 Spring WMD cakes, one of our personal favourites over the years. As such, this cake offers a very similar experience, balancing sweetness and fragrance with an underlying power. There is a thick texture plenty of energy and even some gentle bitterness when pushed, making it a tea for true fans of sheng, especially those with a taste for eastern Banna teas.
This tea is available in either 200 gram cakes or 8 gram mini coins that can be broken in half for smaller 4 gram sessions.
Purchase this cake as a set with Greatest Hits Shou and receive a discount + extra coins.

I purchased the 16g sample. This tea brews a very smooth liquid with bold flavor. Sweet, full bodied, with the perfect hint of vegetal bitterness. The balance between the lighter, fresher flavors of the younger material and the earthy depth of the older material makes for a very interesting and satisfying drink.
So smooth and such an interesting flavor! Very full and satisfying.

It’s too bad that these cakes are out of stock, I’d like a few more. Very good value for what you get and such a comforting tea. Here’s to hoping it will return in the future somehow!

Only bought a sample of this tea. Wish I had pull the plug on a full cake. It’s sweet, complex and easy to drink

The texture is creamy and sticky. The fizzyness in the cheeks and on the side of the tongue makes the experience light and joyful. To taste, I get among other things dry hay on the ground and oatmeal biscuits – – This is sweet and pleasant.

An easy go-to sheng that is portable and convenient to portion out when I’m out and about. Would have been nice if the shou was also available for comparison!

Brief steeps (5-10 seconds) in 90 Celsius water.
Liquor is an almost clear dark amber in color.
Taste is light and fruity, with a sweet aftertaste.
Mouthfeel is slightly sticky, with no astringency nor bitterness.
Wet leaves are olive green with hues of bronze, giving off a soft aroma of green stone fruit.
The flavor intensity starts to mellow down by the 5th infusion, thus best to do a longer steep from here onwards.
A longer steep (30 seconds) gives a hint of bitter note to the palate.
