Rock Solid 2025 Spring Bangdong Raw Puer

Price range: $7.00 through $265.00

Description

Outstanding and outperforming, this tea checks all the boxes: High fragrance, lingering sweetness, excellent mouthfeel, noticeable body feeling/energy, and a price that is easily half of what similar performing teas can be. If you were to drink this tea blind, it would be hard to believe it barely even cracks the mid-range of puer pricing.

Hailing from Bangdong, just around the corner from the famed village of Xigui, this big tree material comes from a rocky terrain, which lends it dynamic qualities and a sought after “Yanyun”. This translates to a mineral sweetness, full feeling in the mouth and layered aroma that progresses nicely with each brew.

This is absolutely a tea that’s worth doubling up on, as one cake might be gone quicker than you expect.

Many of our samples for spring 2025 are in dragon ball form. While these balls will perform the same as the cake, they can be slightly trickier to brew. Here’s how we do it:

It was pretty good. As the description says it has everything you would like in your tea. Its not very easy to play with it. I didn’t felt like it was a very dynamic tea, but this can be something good or bad. Also loved the name.

I prefer the experience I had with OG NAKA, which is in the same price range. The cold sharpness here is pleasant but less noticeable than the overall mouth sensation.
// Smell: Sweet and buttery cookie dough, mineral heaviness, tiny flowers, lemony water, clean laundry on the line, steamed broccoli
// Texture: Thick texture spreading through the mouth, heavy saliva, dry palate
// Taste: Dry and sharp raw pineapple, dry hay, sour candy, mineral, licorice liqueur, wet sand
// Body sensation: Sand-like feeling on the tongue, cool palate, ultra-thick saliva, quick heartbeat, general awakeness, heavy body, serenity, gratitude

4.5 stars. This tea has character but drops off a bit early. It begins with an aroma reminiscent of a light sea breeze and dried corn husk, developing into sweet hay and clean linen in the sun. Minerality, salinity, and astringency are apparent even in the first steeps, turning into a thin savouriness in the last brews.
