Description
In an age of relentless optimization, maximization, and information that manages to touch every part of life, this tea is an opportunity to turn off the inner chatter.
Pressed with the aim of being the best on a budget, we’ve done the hard work by sourcing maocha from some of our favourite gardens across Yunnan, but we won’t say where. You’ll learn absolutely nothing about terroir or provenance, but foregoing transparency in favour of fun may be just what you need.
This year’s blend is nicely balanced. Some Menghai character comes through (Laomane is admittedly hard to hide), with a sugary sweet quality that runs through the whole session. All you need to do is brew it, drink it, and enjoy it. No thinking or analysis required.

A very tasty, drinkable, balanced tea with minerality, fresh vegetables, huigan, and a calibrated bitterness. I was very interested in this tea, to taste what Bitterleaf (people with good taste) would describe as a good, balanced fresh sheng blend. Besides the value and exclusivity of it, this is a treat to drink, the character seems to evolve over the session as well.

Fresh sheng aroma with wet forest and sweet hay notes. The tea feels oily and slightly coating, with a smooth bitterness that isn’t harsh at all. Some sweetness comes through afterwards and stays for a long time. There’s also a clear Menghai character to it.
Very energetic, made me chatty. I often drink sheng before bed, but this one actually made it a bit harder to fall asleep.
Really enjoyable tea with a smooth bitterness, good sweetness, and a long aftertaste.
Glad i got 2, will try to age 1 of them.

I want to make it clear that I am a beginner in the world of Pu erh and so my take isn’t influenced by much else and my verbiage may be wrong, but here is what I have to say about this tea.
Out of the package I get a strong raisin scent, similar to some oolongs I’ve had. After it was unpackaged, it smelled like hay, not overly so, but the scent carries over to the final tea. That’s the only part I’m really not a fan of, but I feel I could quickly get used to it. The taste immediately after taking a sip is distinctly like a steamed artichoke, but after that it starts to taste like a nicely bitter green tea, not nearly overwhelming but the drying feeling stays with you for quite a while.
As a newbie to this realm of teas, this blend tastes real good and it was well worth the money.
