Description
Made from quality arbour/qiaomu material collected from various villages in the Bulang mountain range, this tea offers a pleasant but not overpowering kuwei (bitterness) upfront. This quickly yields to a gentle fragrance that lingers in the mouth and throat before transforming to persistent huigan (returning sweetness).
An all-around enjoyable tea, brewing style can help steer the direction of your session. Brew with a heavier hand to embrace its burly nature or go lighter on leave and steep times to coax out the floral fragrances and enjoy a mineral sweetness.
Rather than relying on name, this tea earns points based on merit, outperforming teas twice its size. We recommend cakes for now, tongs for later.

Many of our samples for spring 2025 are in dragon ball form. While these balls will perform the same as the cake, they can be slightly trickier to brew. Here’s how we do it:

This is one of the most approachable Bulang sheng puers I’ve ever had. You really have to push your brewing parameters if you want to coax out some extra bitterness, but no matter how you brew it the sweetness hits hard and lingers forever. There is a nice milkiness, and a strong mouthwatering component. Some bright fruity notes lead to flavors ranging from strawberry milk to orange creamsicle. This is also surprisingly forgiving of oversteeping, making it one of the best sheng puers I’ve ever had brewed using a mug with infuser. If you want sheng at the office with no time to gongfu, this is a great option. And the price can’t be beat.

Pleasant and straightforward taste for everyone.
// Smell: Creamy sweetness, floral, clean, dry autumn grass, laundry on the line, buttery cookies
// Texture: Tingling on the palate, heaviness in the cheeks and around the back teeth, medium body
// Taste: Spicy and herbaceous, cool strawberry stem cold brew, salty dough, light astringency
// Body sensation: Spicy feeling on the palate, comforting, gentle body heat, good mood, eyes awake, rising energy, slight lightheadedness

Giving 5 stars considering the price. Classic Bulang, great daily drinker. I enjoyed both the dragon balls and the cake. Burly, pleasant astringency, salinity and minerality, notes of dried salted plum.
