Smooth As 2012 Jingmai Ripe Puer

$5.00$349.00

Description

There are a few things a good shou puer should be: clean, thick and especially smooth.

Pressed before we existed (as a company), this re-wrapped shou puer is made from 2012 Jingmai material that was originally labelled as “gushu”. You can look at the price and decide if that makes sense or not, but in the meantime we’ll just drop that and call it 2012 Jingmai.

Gushu or not, we don’t care. This tea is smooth as smooth. It has a pleasant flavour with no off tastes, as any good semi-aged shou should. And while fragrance is not always a standout quality for shou, this one performs very well in that regard, giving you something to grab onto in all ranges.

    Silky mouthfeel. Notes of mineral earth, hardwood, and dark cacao. No off flavors. Would make a good daily ripe.

    I received a sample of this with an order and it is officially next on my list as far as cakes to buy. I really loved it. It is smooth and silky, and has all of the best qualities shou has to offer.

    A very nice tea, I liked how smooth it was. Some of the other teas can bite you in the throat, but this one was gentler. I do prefer something with a long lasting aftertaste and it didn’t do enough for me to repurchase. But nothing bad to say here.

    As the name implies, this tea is super smooth and has a wonderfully mouthfeel. Taste is woody, chocolatey and earthy with a nice balance and overall comforting taste that’s great for every day drinking but lacking anything that grabs your attention.

    //Eyes Dry Leaf
    Harmonious mix of warm sienna brown and rusty orange. Loosly compressed

    //Nose Dry Leaf
    Dark chocolate, earthy (but not too much)

    //Nose Wet Leaf
    Soil trail (after the rain) in the forest. Mineral/wet rocks

    //Eyes Liquor
    Rusty brown with red hues

    //Mouth Texture
    Medium to thick texture. Silky mouth coverage

    //Mouth Taste
    Toasts with molasse on them. Young forest after the rain. Brighter than other shou puer I tasted

    //Mouth Finish
    Silky and smooth

    //Eyes Wet Leaf
    Tiny leaves. Dark and glossy

    //Body Sensation
    Awakeness. Heartbeat increasing

    //Brewing Notes
    1 gram per 20mL of water at 95C. 15 seconds + 5 second

    //Resume
    The chocolate taste completely disapear after a couple of brews

    Shou puer is not my favorite, but I bought a sample of this because I love Jingmai sheng, and I thought this might be a good way to get a little more into shou. This is certainly one of the cleanest shou puers I have ever tasted, and the texture is very thick and satisfying. I taste no off flavors or wo dui, but I also actually don’t taste too much else either. This tea is has a light sweetness and a bit earthiness, but overall tastes pretty mild to me.

    Wow. It definitely is smooth. I can’t say I’m an expert in puerhs but this shou is smooth and coats your mouth after drinking it. No aftertaste and even when it cools down not pungent like some other puerhs that I’ve had before. Not a strong hits you in the face type of tea but an even keel and good for an everyday tea session.
