Body & Soul 2026 Organic Shou Puer x Black Tea

Description

Version seven brings a notable change to this annual blend, with both teas coming from certified organic gardens. The shou consists of 2018 Bulang region 2nd grade material, while the black tea is organic spring material from Simao. Pressed several months in advance of release, the extra resting time has allowed the two teas to get to know each other a little better.

Early steeps lean shou. A slight earthiness leads with some spice behind it, and the mouthfeel is full without being heavy. The black tea shows up in the higher notes and in the aftertaste, where its fragrance carries alongside a good huigan.

Subsequent steeps highlight the black tea, but the balance moves around more than usual, as each tea takes turns at the front.

This style of blend is one that can be expected to become more cohesive with longer storage, but tracking its development along the way is part of the fun. As such, we highly recommend doubling up with at least one cake for drinking now and another for long term storage.
