Description
Bringing together Mengku shaihong (sun dried) black tea and Bangdong white tea, this tea strikes a balance that’s lighter on its feet than straight up black tea, but with more presence than white tea alone. Sweet and approachable, it maintains the agile character of our previous pressings.
This blend takes advantage of both teas’ natural fragrance and flavor, creating something that shifts from brew to brew. These types of blends tend to go through phases over time – as one tea quiets down, the other steps up, keeping things interesting, whether you’re drinking now or storing away for later.
Experimental but affordable, this straightforward blend does what it’s supposed to, without overthinking things.

This tea is like a light, aged white tea or a refreshing black tea. The fragrance is stronger than the flavour, with aromas of florals, honey and sweet maltose, which lingers in the mouth. The tea liquid is relatively thin, with an undercurrent of minerality. This is a tea suitable for people who don’t necessarily enjoy the heavy malt flavours that aged white tea or heavily roasted black tea brings. I imagine this would be lovely brewed in a mug or as an iced tea. Considering the price, I would give this 4.5 stars if I could.

Pleasant as can be, with a clear dessert-like profile that naturally invites another cup… and then another. The liquor delivers a progressive, noticeable rise in energy that is worth paying attention to.
// Smell: Intensely sweet ripe fruit coulis, tall grass, dough, potpourri, warm raspberry muffin, cranberry bread, a delicately perfumed clean house, melilot pudding, and fruit candy.
// Texture: Spicy tingling on the tip of the tongue, a creamy wave with medium body, and lingering warmth on the teeth.
// Taste: Caramel crème brûlée with floral accents, pastry filled with cream and served alongside ripe fruit, and a fruity cold-brew character.
// Body sensation: Vanished saliva, a sticky mouthfeel, steadily building energy (but without a rushed feeling), and an overall uplifted mood.

Both the dry and the wet leaf smell remarkable, the former gives a rich image of honey and a meadow full of blooming dandelions, while the latter reveal some contrasting notes of artificial cherry flavor (aroma) and citric acid.
The mouthfeel is thick, especially early on, my bet that’s due to hairs from the white tea buds. The taste is sweet in a way of between the bites of Turkish delight: cooked starch, a touch of rose, cotton and peony.
Really nice tea to savor on in the right setting (calm and quiet in my case).
