Description
It’s been a long road back, but we’re very happy to reintroduce this black tea to the lineup. Made from the old tree version of our Plum Beauty raw puer, this tea has acquired organic certification since we last offered it.
The initial dry scent off the leaves is creamy and sweet, which translates to a thick and full feeling in the mouth. A pleasant high fragrance is nicely balanced with notes of chocolate and a smooth, roasted quality.
A notable huigan leaves behind plenty of sweetness in the mouth and throat, making this tea a step up from your average dianhong black tea.

A very good black tea which is a bit different from a regular dianhong. It’s fruity and creamy with notes of biscuits and cacao. It does has the notes of ripe stones fruits and blackcurrants which I personnaly associate with dianhong, but it also offers an incredible creaminess. It gives vibes of milk chocolate with fruits.
It has complexity and a good mouthfeel.

A fantastic purchase! I had only purchased one red tea this year and it ended up being a gem!
Summary Statement: An example of a red tea done presenting a liquor that is hearty and smooth with a satisfying sweet character while simultaneously presenting a darker profile giving the impression of a low-and-slow roast.
On the Nose // floral-sweet/caramel-sweet
Aroma // roasted, caramelized chestnuts in earlier brew which transforms into caramelized asian sweet potatoes (think the kind with purple skin and golden-yellow flesh)
Texture: weighty, plush and mouth-coating with a gentle throat-cling; rounded liquor that ‘hangs’ momentarily in the throat
Flavor // deep caramel-sweetness complimented by some milky-cream notes alongside noticeable malt notes with some chocolate undertones
Cold Fragrance // chestnuts-by-an-open-fire
Returning Smell (Hui-Gan) // slightly minerally woodsy aroma with some hints of maple syrup

I’m enjoying this tea very much. Notes of stone fruits, dark chocolate, burnt sugar. Nice coating mouth feel with a sweet lingering finish. Very cozy and warming tea.
5g/100ml gaiwan.

Mouthwatering and layered aroma. The slightly tart note at the start is both invigorating and delightful, creating a lovely contrast with the sweet cream lingering in the background. A great duo!
// Smell: Cooked ripe fruits, cranberry dessert bread with cream on top, sweet flowers, roasted nuts, raspberry and chocolate chip cake
// Texture: Tingling under the tongue, creamy texture
// Taste: Grilled slice of raisin bread, floral, sweet nuts, mineral
// Body sensation: Generous mouth coating, thick saliva, comforting, pleasant warmth, rising energy, eyes wide awake

Not overly malty, cocoa profile. Had a really fruity dry leaf, almost like shaihong I’ve smelled. Seemed a bit prone to bitterness, but I’d like to test properly in the thermos. Pretty thick, good amount of body to it, but rather strong even at this ratio.
