Description
The name already tells you most of what you need to know about this tea, however, like any tea, there are inevitably slight changes from year to year.
Although some time to rest can change the profile a bit, our early impression of this year’s tea is that it leans more towards the floral side of things to start out. This quickly gives way to a peachy/fruity sweetness, with notes of raw cacao on the finish, and a full body and rich feeling in the mouth.
Mid steeps of this tea will bring out even more of the fruity quality, while more chocolate notes can be expected to develop with time.
This tea comes from Daxueshan region bushed that see minimal human interference outside of picking. In many cases this could be labelled “wild”, but that’s a bit of a misnomer. The tea is more “left to grow” by our labelling standards.
Please note that the 250g size does not include a tin.

The first brews are like shy whispers. Just wait for it, and you’ll be hit with peach and chocolate notes that last long after the session.
//Smell: Orange flower blossom, zesty pastry, diluted orange juice, intense floral notes, peach candy, mango and peach sorbet.
//Texture: Medium to thick texture, immediate effect on the tongue, cheeks, and teeth (heavy coating), cold liquor in the middle of the mouth!
//Taste: Orange flower blossom, diluted orange juice, dry biscuits, dessert bread, peach-flavored powdered candy.
//Body Sensation: Good mood, clear mind, subtle heat, and a heightened sense of sensory awareness.

Yunnan hong cha can be hit or miss for me, but this one is a big hit. Malty sweet aroma with a floral undercurrent. Flavor is lightly sweet without being heavy, soft finish with a creamy note that evolves to milk chocolate as it fades. I haven’t gotten the peachiness to much extent, but I will definitely try pushing this harder in the future, as it has plenty of room for it.
