Description
This 2003 Liu Bao is made from old tree Gui Qing material using traditional light fermentation methods. After over 20 years of aging through multiple storage environments, it’s developed a clear ginseng and medicinal character, giving it the expected profile for a tea with traditional processing and proper aging.
The amber-red soup is clean with a refreshing quality, delivering a cooling sensation in the mouth and throat. There is a strong chaqi, notable body, and a taste profile that skews herbal without being heavy. The ginseng notes are prominent and clear, backed by a woody depth that holds through multiple infusions.

Alexandra Verville-Paris –
Aroma noticeably weaker than the other heichas. An opaque, calm coloration with royal character. Overall, I’m a bit disappointed by the performance of Fountain of Youth: the tea itself is fine, but given the price, I was hoping for more.
// Smell: Earthy potpourri, buttery cookie, conifer cough lozenge, cabin, Grandma’s basement, balsam fir essential oil, a calm and mature freshness, ripe fruit cake.
// Texture: Spicy tingling on the tip of the tongue and teeth, sand-like effect on the tongue, sticky and thick body.
// Taste: Light, humid soil, mushroom cream soup, wet rock, a damp winter basement with a fireplace.
// Body sensation: Cold teeth, vanished saliva, warm energy, a sense of bodily tiredness and heaviness.
