Description
Similar to puer huangpian, this Dancong huangpian is made from the older leaves and stems sorted out of higher end productions after the initial roast. The stiffer leaves and stems get removed to tidy up the appearance and consistency of the final tea, but they still have plenty to offer in the cup.
While previous years’ Bouquet consisted of a blend of multiple varietals, this year’s tea is pure Yashixiang, and it becomes obvious as soon as you brew it. You get the same characteristic floral fragrance, just in a much more affordable package. Like any good huangpian, this is a fantastic budget tea that’s good to go anytime, and doesn’t ask much of you.
Close your eyes and this could likely beat plenty of standard Dancong productions that come in at a higher price.

First time having a nice dancong. I have the sampler pack and this one so I thought I’d try the cheapest one first.
Really enjoyed it, can see myself having it as a daily drinker.
I don’t have the experience yet to know what I’m tasting and smelling but I definitely can smell the roast. Sweetness like floral or honey maybe. Noticed that cooling sensation in my throat which is pretty cool. Plus a bit of astringency later after noticing it felt thick on my tongue/lubricating in earlier steeps.
Later steeps it got smoother and I think I got honeysuckle? Honeyed scent in gaiwan when brewing ~ 8 steeps.
Really enjoy it, super cozy. If I’m loving this one I’m excited to see how the expensive ones compare. Definitely different from the Taiwanese oolongs I’ve been drinking and I understand that more full bodied feeling compared to thin or light?
Also noticed once it cools off a bit it gets this great lighter floral scent. Once again I don’t know my flowers so I can’t say what it is but it’s lovely.
