Description
With this being our 5th iteration of a Youhua Xiang (Pomelo flower fragrance) dancong, it might stand out as our favourite version yet.
Unique from previous years, this tea is less abrupt out of the gate, although not lacking in fragrance. Early brews lead with a very pleasant citrus flower fragrance, mild citrus fruit, and a clean sweetness, with none of the bitterness that could sometimes show in earlier years.
The texture is also fuller, making it more enjoyable all around. By the third brew, the citrus fruit notes come forward, zest and all, and there’s even a slight sensation of citrus zest on the tongue.
This varietal is always one that takes well to cold brewing if you want something crisp during the hot months.

Last year’s 2025 batch was what got me into oolong. I truly thought I hated oolong until I tried this and discovered I’m a dancong fiend. It’s has the classic scent most roasted dancongs have but it’s lighter and slightly floral. The flavor is also more delicate yet complex compared to other varietals, and makes great cold brew as well. So glad I got a big bag this year since by the time I tried and liked last year’s they were all out. Long live Citrus Grandis!
