Flowerbomb 2026 Spring Simao Oolong Hong

Price range: $5.00 through $75.00

Description

Grown right here in Yunnan, this tea uses Taiwanese small leaf, soft stem varietal trees (台湾小叶种乌龙软枝) for the material. The result is an incredibly affordable and unique oolong compared to anything else we’ve come across in Yunnan.

This tea’s character shares a lot in common with our always popular Chocolate Flower Peach, due to it being processed as a “red oolong”, which involves a relatively higher level of oxidization. Although it treads close to black tea territory, it still retains the qualities of an oolong in terms of processing and character, with a heavier emphasis on florals. That shouldn’t be a surprise based on the name though.

The aftertaste and cup scent leave behind a caramel sweetness and notes of baked goods.

Using earlier spring material for 2026, this tea handily outperforms its budget and is a must try for anyone who enjoys “wild” dianhongs or Taiwanese oolongs.

Genuinely incredible value tea. The leaf itself has an aroma of baked, spiced, wholegrain bread and aromatic wood. The liquor has a notable rose and cacao aroma. That continues in the taste, with chocolatey baked goods and rose coming through. Astounding for the price. Easily performs at the level of teas that are two or three times as expensive.

Unfortunately didn’t really like this tea, tried quite a few different brewing parameters, but no luck, it wasn’t getting me in a nice direction. Oh well, alot of other.l nice stuff to chose from here :)

    Id give 4.5
    Description is accurate.
I personally find sweetness to be slightly eluding it is there but it also isnt there.
It is sort of like trying to reach something and you can felling with your fingers but cant quite garb it.
It is sweet without being sweet.
However i much rather drink Chocolate Flower Peach.

Very enjoyable tea for a more than fair price. It’s a red oolong, but is definitely closer to the black tea side of the spectrum. I do think “flower bomb” is a bit of a misnomer; it definitely has floral notes, but that isn’t the main flavor. So don’t buy this expecting an extremely floral tea. But it’s still yummy and easy and forgiving to brew.

In my opinion the same tea from 2025 was better. This one is a bit more bitter and less sweet than the 2025 edition.

It is still good at this price point and has a good quality to price ratio – that is way I give it a 4

A fine, constantly moving, semi-translucent film on the liquor—nice! The perfect yummy tea to share with a snack. Simple and comforting.

// Smell: Chocolate chips over overcooked waffles, diluted orange juice, dessert bread, floral notes, onion-and-tomato pie, city pool, raisin bread.
// Texture: Tingling on the lips, medium texture, sticky.
// Taste: Spicy flowers, puff-pastry tomato pie, chocolate-and-aquafaba mousse, rosé sauce with sun-dried tomatoes and pasta.
// Body sensation: Thick saliva, sand-like effect on the tongue, heavy body, comforting warmth, tired eyes, desire for stillness.
