Rice Rice Baby 2025 Spring Dajian Shan Nuomixiang Dianhong Black Tea

Price range: $7.00 through $70.00

Description

This traditionally processed Dianhong black tea is infused with 糯米叶, a plant that emits a fragrance similar to sticky rice when dried. With many Asian desserts having a rice base or taste to them, this tea is about as close to drinking a dessert as possible.

The initial fragrance delivers an expected sweet sticky rice flavour, while the black tea qualities continue to emerge more and more with each brew, complementing the rice flavour nicely as the sessions progresses.

This unique combination of fragrances and flavours makes for an extremely enjoyable experience in a budget-friendly package.

Absolutely delicious! If you like sticky rice smell and flavour, you will love that tea! The flavour is just right, not overwhelming. It feels like having a rice dessert in a cup, with a little hint of red (black) tea complementing the mix.

The rice flavor mellows over the brews. A “mouth piece” of cold lingers between infusions. An excellent companion to an evening of reading. Well-balanced, generous, and simple.
//Smell: Crispy sticky rice, sweet dessert bread, ripe fruit, caramelized rice ball with maple syrup, wet hay, vanilla
//Texture: Sticky on the tongue, medium texture, cold coating of the teeth, heaviness in the cheeks
//Taste: Harmonious blend of sticky rice and raisin bread. Creamy sugar coulis, warm spices
//Body sensation: Physical calm, awake eyes, good mood, comfort, warm cheeks

Wonderfully sticky rice aroma and the red tea base material is much better than I anticipated! A solid dian hong with plenty of texture and well rounded flavor.

The dry leaf is instantly full of sweet toasted rice. It’s toasty, sweet, nutty, and so fragrant. The wet leaf intensifies that nutty toasty rice, but the characteristics of the black tea are right underneath. This tea is unbelievably fragrant, the entire tea session I was surrounded by the aromatics.

The palate is so unique. Again, you’re getting all the toasted rice notes. It’s sweet, warming, and nutty. Throughout the session the black tea itself starts to shine a bit more and underneath the rice I’m met with dried wood, light tannins, demerara sugar, and warm clover honey undertones. Not something I’d drink often, but a very enjoyable treat regardless.
