Floralia 2026 Lincang Yabao White Tea

Price range: $9.00 through $32.00

Description

This Lincang yabao captures that early spring moment when the forest is just waking up. Wildflower fragrance and notes of young pine needles come through, alongside a touch of lychee. The floral character is prominent, backed by the amino acid brightness you get from fresh spring material.

The tea is refreshing and easy to drink, with a clear soup that looks deceptively light for how much flavor it carries, which could easily be mistaken for water.

Made from the buds of yet-to-be-formed branches, yabao differs from conventional tea with a different amino acid profile, as well as reduced caffeine content compared to proper tea made with leaves. In typical fashion, this yabao is processed in white tea style, maintaining a clean and approachable character.

Yabao is truly a unique white tea that takes a few side steps from the usual Bai Mu Dan, Shou Mei and Silver Needle. I haven’t had many of them, but I usually reached for them either late in the evening (since it has low caffeine) or when I’m in the mood for something light but also fruity and juicy. That’s the case with this one as well.

The mouthfeel is watery, let’s not beat around the bush, but then again that kind of allows it to be perceived as distinct from its white counterparts. The impression is thin, but also kind of warming in a hot stones in rookie level sauna sense. Aroma bouquet is quite something: blooming pine trees, basil and a touch of lemon zest. The finish is juicy and the aftertaste feels lightly acidic, like after sipping water with citrus slices.

Since this tea has very high aroma and watery body, I wonder if it would be a good candidate for some experimental tea blends.

Delectable aroma that continuously changes throughout the session. This tea is really good when drunk hot, and I’m guessing it would be an absolute killer as a cold brew.
// Smell: Floral, dumpling dough, super lemony, ginger, lemongrass soup, and a whole “yellow” world: yellow Froot Loops, yellow lollipops, yellow Play-Doh.
//Texture: Bubbly all over the tongue, medium to thick body, oily and silky, heavy on the back teeth.
//Taste: Light orange blossom custard, buttery lemon candy, lemongrass-floral broth, ginger, Froot Loops, Jolly Rancher chews.
// Body sensation: Cold teeth, thick saliva, heavy cheeks, steady heart rate, calming and refreshing, silence, presence.
