Description
A new white for us in 2026, this tea consists of spring shoumei grade material from an excellent environment in Nanben, Mengsong. It’s sweet and well rounded, with a wildflower fragrance, a light sweet corn quality underneath, and a touch of fruit that shows up as the session goes on.
The early spring material carries more amino acid content, which comes through as a clear umami quality in the cup. The result is a white tea with more savoury depth than this style and grade normally permits, balancing out the natural sweetness nicely.
Compared to something like our White Crow shoumei, this tea’s regional character shines through quite a bit. Nanben is arguably a bolder region, with more of this showing up in the soup. This serves as a great tea to highlight the differences terroir can make.

I’ve been searching for a white tea that tastes as similar to Tiger Sniffs the Rose (a Naka white tea offered by Bitterleaf that’s unfortunately sold out) and I think this is it! If you’ve never tried the tea I mentioned, just know this is a wonderful white tea with a deep and interesting flavor profile. Definitely punches way above its weight class. I’m going to pick up a tong, I’m excited to see how it ages!
