Description
Using the same left-to-grow material as our Year of the Horse Yiwu raw puer, this white tea carries over much of what makes the sheng so intriguing this year – thicker body, a distinctive sweetness that settles on the roof of the mouth, and a pleasant fragrance. A slight mushroom note weaves in alongside the florals, adding an earthy dimension that sets this pressing apart from previous years.
Similar to its puer counterpart, this tea demonstrates the difference a good environment and well-tended (or rather untended) land can make in terms of the final product. Pick up the raw puer and black tea versions to compare the same material across different processing styles.

180f gaiwan brew. Tasted the rinse and got strong huigan. The broth brews sweet, honey melon with a touch of something like raisins, the scent is earthy and sweet. In the gaiwan, the leaves have a sweet berry or stone fruit scent. For the price, this is excellent.

i tend to be more picky with white teas, but this tea was pretty good. i found it to have a certain creamy, fresh-pressed soymilk character that i associate more with fuding whites but at the price point of an yunnan white. it also preserves the potency of white teas from yunnan. overall, would recommend!

Delicious fresh white tea from Yiwu. Honey, green melon, some umami woodsy mushroom, good texture and body. The mushroom note is playful and can hide in the background, I’ve found this to be true of the sheng as well. Big time wild honey aroma and flavors come out in later steeps. I greatly look forward to how my tong ages over the years.

I’ve sampled last year’s offering of this tea and decided to get a cake of this year without sampling, and I’m glad that I did. This white tea is slightly different from the 2025, it has more thickness, slightly more depth and very interesting profile for the type. It lacks, however, some brighter notes that I noticed in 2025 sample. There’s a distinct note of freshly picked okra and eggplant, followed by a noticeable but very well put bitterness that stays for a few moments before leaving the throat slightly tight and the tongue covered with a nutty and sweet impression. When I want to brew this tea gongfu style I carefully loosen the leaves from the front of the cake, trying not to break them, I find this way the taste is more gradual and consistent. Since the same origin material is used for white and black tea, I notice a similar vegetable elements, and to me, this white tea feels better executed than the black counterpart.

I got a whole cake and it was a great decision.
Fresh, vibrant, at this value it is great for daily drinking especially that it is quite long lasting and forgiving when brewed and forgotten (at least that’s my experience)

Strong florals with a layer of maltiness. A bit herbaceous and a hint of umami, almost chocolatey in later steeps. 4.5 stars.
